For centuries, spiritual teachers have shared meditation practices intended to promote greater happiness, inner peace and personal development. People may be drawn to meditation for many reasons: to experience calmness and stillness, manage stress, improve concentration, develop intuition or deepen their spiritual awareness. Others may be motivated by a desire to contribute to a more peaceful and compassionate world.
Whatever the motivation, Meditation on Twin Hearts offers a simple but powerful practice that can support this journey.
Meditation on Twin Hearts is an advanced spiritual technique introduced to the public by Master Choa Kok Sui in 1987. Based on ancient spiritual principles, it is practised both for personal development and as a form of world and community service.
During the meditation, participants bless the Earth with loving-kindness, peace, joy, goodwill and hope. The practice is intended to help participants develop greater inner peace while contributing positive energy towards the wellbeing and harmony of the wider world.
Among the techniques developed and taught by Master Choa Kok Sui, the guided Meditation on Twin Hearts has become one of the most widely practised. It normally takes approximately 20 minutes and is now practised by people from many religious, cultural and spiritual backgrounds around the world. No particular religious belief is required to participate.
Meditation on Twin Hearts is based on the principle that certain energy centres, or chakras, act as gateways to different levels of awareness and consciousness.
The term “Twin Hearts” refers to two important energy centres: the heart chakra and the crown chakra.
The heart chakra, located in the centre of the chest, is associated with compassion, kindness, joy, affection, mercy and other refined emotions. The crown chakra, situated at the top of the head, is sometimes described as the spiritual heart and is associated with higher spiritual consciousness and divine love.
Within the teachings of Master Choa Kok Sui, the crown chakra can be more fully activated when the heart chakra has first been sufficiently developed. By cultivating compassion, loving-kindness and other higher emotions, the practitioner prepares for a deeper experience of divine love, spiritual awareness and a sense of oneness with all.
Meditation on Twin Hearts also reflects the Law of Consequences, commonly known as karma—the principle that our thoughts and actions contribute to the results we experience. During the meditation, participants become channels for blessing the Earth and every person and being upon it with love, peace, forgiveness, good health and prosperity.
The practice is therefore not solely concerned with personal spiritual development. It is also a form of world service intended to promote greater harmony, compassion and goodwill. Although Meditation on Twin Hearts forms part of the Pranic Healing and Arhatic Yoga systems, it can also be learned and practised independently.
People who regularly practise Meditation on Twin Hearts report a range of emotional, mental and spiritual benefits. Individual experiences vary, but commonly reported benefits include:
Regular practitioners often report feeling lighter, happier and more positive following the meditation. The practice may also support greater mental clarity, concentration and inner stillness.
The meditation may help people relax, release accumulated stress and experience greater emotional balance. Within the Pranic Healing teachings, this cleansing effect is sometimes described as a “spiritual shower” that helps remove unwanted thoughts and emotional energies.
Meditation can support general wellbeing, but it should not be considered a replacement for appropriate medical or psychological care.
During the meditation, participants generate and share thoughts of loving-kindness, forgiveness, peace and goodwill. Regularly cultivating these qualities may encourage greater patience, understanding and harmony in personal relationships.
Within the teachings of Meditation on Twin Hearts, the spiritual energy generated during the practice is understood to cleanse and energise the practitioner. People commonly report feeling refreshed, peaceful and revitalised after completing the meditation.
The practice is intended to develop the heart and crown energy centres, helping participants experience deeper compassion, spiritual awareness and a greater sense of connection with others.
By blessing other people and the Earth, practitioners aim to become channels of loving-kindness, peace and goodwill. Within the Law of Karma, generating positive thoughts and actions is understood to create positive causes that may later return as beneficial opportunities and good fortune.
Meditation on Twin Hearts offers an opportunity to care for personal wellbeing while also contributing to greater peace and harmony in the wider world. Individual experiences will differ, and the most meaningful way to understand the practice is to experience it personally through a properly guided meditation.
